Winter means different things to different regions of the world. Here in the Pacific Northwest, it means rain. A ton of rain. And not just any rain, no, this rain is nasty. This rain is essentially melted snowflakes. Drops fall from the sky like cold, wet bombs. As much as I wish lockdown would end, I’m kind of glad I don’t have to deal too much with these massive drops of rain. Instead, I can sit in my warm house and listen to music while the neverending barrage of precipitation pelts my roof. What am I listening to? Well, I’m glad you asked. This week’s playlist, Rainy Day Music, is a good sampling of songs I like to listen to when it rains.
Rainy Day Music features a barrage of songs that just feel good to listen to while sitting in a comfy chair. Maybe you’re reading, maybe you’re playing a game, maybe you’re staring out the window. Regardless, artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Aimee Mann, Elliott Smith, Elvis Costello, The Flaming Lips, Chicago, Belle & Sebastian, The Velvet Underground, The Traveling Wilburys, and many more will occupy your thoughts as you shelter from the stormy weather.
Stay warm and dry, my friends. And enjoy this week’s playlist – Rainy Day Music.
And, if Rainy Day Music doesn’t match your winter…
Fear not, I’ve got you covered! For those of you who want more traditionally winter music, might I suggest Songs for the Winter? Might I also recommend the perfect album for winter? There’s also Music for the Cold Weather Blues. Of course, if you’re in the southern hemisphere, you’re in the middle of summer. So, it’s time to dance! Whatever your weather, I’ve got you covered.
Exciting news, folks. The next article published will be a brand new cover vs original! Yes, it’s been ages upon ages! I’m not sure of the exact publication date, but it will be sometime in the next week. Most likely Friday or Saturday, depending on a few factors. I’ll be comparing the song No Scrubs with versions done in several different genres, including one version sung entirely in Klingon! It’s going to be fun. You won’t want to miss it, so sign up for my newsletter and you won’t miss a beat!
Whatever your weather, dear friends, I hope you stay comfortable and dry. And as always, rock on, and rocksteady!
