Portland Playlist Volume 1.

Portland PlaylistDear friends, I lied. I said this last Friday in June will be a travel playlist. In actuality, it will be a home town playlist! I mean, what is travel without a homecoming? Besides, the music scene in Portland is amazing! Honestly, it has always been amazing – and that’s why I felt the need to bring to you, my readers, a Portland Playlist.

This list includes many of my personal favorites: The Decemberists, Quasi, Menomena. To be truthful, there’s a few artists on this list that I deem listenable, but are far from my favorites. However, I felt like my city is defined by some of these artists – so include them I did. There are artists I’ve known, met, and even knew when we were kids. I’ve had chance encounters with some (ask me about the time I ran into Art Alexakis at Pioneer Square). I remember talking with the folks from Blind Pilot outside a venue, as they were preparing for a bike trip to Southern Oregon. I remember talking several times with Anita of Viva Voce right after they moved to Portland. My point being – this playlist is home to me. This playlist has a lot of personal connections.

I tried to include several decades worth of Portland artists, and thus there was just not enough room for some artists who probably should be on here. As I’ve said about both the New York and Great Britain playlists, there will of course be another. This is especially true with the Portland Playlist, as a big part of AudioPerfecta’s overall strategy is to bring smaller artists to our readers. While this isn’t an exclusively local mission, I will be diving into local music a lot. So while this playlist has a lot of bigger names and a few smaller ones, the next list will probably have a lot more smaller names and fewer bigger names. Enjoy the Portland Playlist!

There’s more than the Portland Playlist….

As I’ve been saying for a month – these playlists are nothing but a teaser for what’s coming. As of this Sunday, July 1st, AudioPerfecta will be a full fledged site with regularly produced content. We’ll still bring you playlists (such as the Portland Playlist volume 2) , but we’ll also bring you a bevy of other features. The first article will be up this Sunday, July 1st. So follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or subscribe to our mailing list at the bottom of this page!
