Songs for the Ocean

Avast ye scurvy lads and lasses, ’tis talk like a pirate day! And what better way to celebrate than with an ocean-themed playlist? Besides, I just got back from the coast, so the music of the sea is on my mind anyway. Yes, songs about the beach, about the ocean. Songs for the Ocean is a day at the beach wrapped up in 2 hours of music.

Featuring such classics as Kokomo by The Beach Boys, Wipe Out by The Surfaris, Orinoco Flow by Enya, and Under the Boardwalk by The Drifters, we bring the lazy, sunny coasts of the tropics into your soul. With Yellow Submarine by The Beatles and Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid, and Ocean Man by Ween, we’re reminded of the fun one has in the ocean. Oh, but it’s not all fun and games. With songs such as Brandy by Looking Glass, Sailor Song by Regina Spektor, and The Heart of the Sea by Flogging Molly, we’re reminded of what lonely lives sailors leave, as well as those they leave behind. And of course, with songs such as the Theme from Jaws, The Call of Ktulu by Metallica, and When the Levee Breaks as covered by Led Zeppelin.

Songs for the Ocean will take you on a journey into the sea. Enjoy the voyage, but please, be careful.

This is actually the second playlist I’ve done about the Ocean. The first playlist, Wave after Wave, featured a few of the same songs, and a few different songs. Regardless, the flow was totally different than this playlist. So if you’re looking for more Ocean music, Come Sail away with me. Get it? Ok, ok, that was a bad joke.

In other news, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a featured article. I’ve just not had the time or the energy, and honestly, I’ve not made the time or space to write. My entire state has been on fire, my paying job has been a brute, and I also went on vacation. However, I promise, something will come out of AudioPerfecta soon. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Cover Vs Original, and so that’s probably going to be the next article. Who knows, maybe I’ll do a couple of those in a row!

Be excellent to each other people. It’s a crazy world out there right now. Rock on, and rocksteady.
