Music to Make You Laugh

To quote a 90s RomCom starring Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, and Ben Stiller – Reality Bites! Seriously. What the actual (CENSORED), 2020? We’ve had racist cops murdering people, pandemics, massive fires In Australia, earthquakes, federal troops coming against peaceful protests, murder hornets, and even the friggin black plague. Unemployment rates are higher than we could ever imagine. We can’t go to the movies or concerts. The restaurants are open, yes, but it feels like we’re risking our lives and the lives of everyone around us. We need to freaking laugh; we deserve that dangit! That’s why I made this week’s playlist. Music to Make You Laugh is designed to help you forget about the current dumpster fire of a reality we live in, and maybe, just maybe, crack a smile.

Music to Make You Laugh is admittedly not NSFW but considering none of us are in our offices, who cares? What’s your boss going to do? Fire you for listening to NSFW material in your own home? As long as you’re not on a zoom call or anything, you should be fine. So who’s on Music to Make You Laugh? “Weird” Al Yankovic, Monty Python, Rachel Bloom, Garfunkel and Oats, The Lonely Island, Flight of the Conchords, Tenacious D, Spike Jones, and so many more. Gilda Radner’s “Talk Dirty to the Animals,” Julie Brown’s “Cause I’m a Blond(e)” and even Schaudenfreude by the cast of Avenue Q. Music to Make You Laugh will fill your comedy yearnings, in a musical style.

Get comfortable, mute that conference call, and prepare to laugh your behind off.

Music to Make You Laugh

More music to make you laugh coming this week!

The crown prince of musical comedy, “Weird” Al Yankovic, has recorded hundreds of songs over the years. I know most of these songs, but there are a few songs I’ve never listened to. Most of these songs are from albums I never explored. Well, that ends now! Or rather, in a few days when I write the article. This week’s featured article will be an “I Listen To” of all the “Weird” Al songs I’ve never heard. Will I love these songs? Will I hate them? Is there a reason that a fan like myself, who has seen Al three times in concert, has never heard these songs? You’ll find out on Saturday! So come back later this week. It’s going to be fun!
