The Music of 2020: A Sampler

2020 is finally coming to an end. I remember what hope I had at the beginning of the year. I was determined to make 2020 the best year ever. Yeah, we all know how well that went. I won’t say 2020 was the worst year ever, but it probably has been the worst year the Western World has seen in our lifetimes. Despite the shitshow of a year we’ve had, it’s been an incredible year for music. You get where I’m going here. In short, this week’s playlist is The Music of 2020: A Sampler.

Wait, a sampler? Well, truth be told, I had a hard time ranking the music of this year. Instead, I just went through my notes of songs I liked and made a playlist. I’ve got new(to this year) music from Elvis Costello, HAIM, Mastodon, New Order, The Mountain Goats, Superchunk, Blue Oyster Cult, Tennis, The Beths, Ben Folds, AC/DC, Weezer, STP. The list goes on for 40 songs worth of music!

Happy New year everyone. Enjoy The Music of 2020, and let’s hope 21 will be a much better year!

The Music of 2020.

More of the Music of 2020 coming soon!

Folks, there are a few albums represented on this playlist I need to explore more. The Beths “Jump Rope Gazers” comes to mind. So does Swimmer by Tennis (one of my most anticipated albums of 2020). A handful of other albums as well. I want to get more content out if at all possible in 21, and exploring these albums will be a great start.

With that said, AudioPerfecta has been doing amazing in 2020. Even though we’ve published less content than in 2019, we’ve gotten more hits. In fact, November of 2020 was our best month yet, with December on track to overtake November. I for one am excited. While part of this has to do with my SEO skills, content is king. And the content that’s been getting the most hits have been the Cover vs Original series. So, expect a lot more from that series in 2021!

Despite what the algorithms say, I want to hear what you humans think. So drop me/us a line and tell me/us what you want to see more of in 2021. Are there any songs you want me to write about in a cover vs original article? Any albums you’re excited about that I should review? Any albums from 20 or more years ago that I should retro review? Maybe you have a playlist idea. Maybe you even have an idea for an artist I should interview (I really want to cut my teeth on interviews in 2021). Whatever your opinions and ideas, I want to hear them. So tell me in the comments, or head over to our Facebook or Twitter!

So long 2020, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out! Stay safe everyone. And as always, Rock on and Rocksteady!
