Space! The final frontier. These are the sounds of the website, AudioPerfecta. Its continuing mission, to explore strange new genres. To seek out new songs, and musical artists. To boldly split infinitives, and where no blog has split infinitives before…ok I lost you on that last part. What can I say – at least I tried. As this is the spaceships and robots playlist, I figured I’d start out with an homage to one of my favorite sci fi franchises. Let’s just hope Viacom and CBS doesn’t sue me….
Anyways – Spaceships and Robots! Seriously, these two subjects that make sci-fi nerds on this world and the next scream in exciting, high pitched cheers. While most of these screams can only be defined as “unnatural and freaking annoying,” when combined with musical talent, we get some sounds that are downright pleasant. So – this is what spaceships and robots dedicates itself to – those songs that pay homage to sci-fi, to strange new worlds, to wonderful (or fearsome) mechanical beasts. To boldly split infinitives – wait – I made that joke already.
Spaceships and Robots features songs about aliens, such as “Rapture” by Blondie. You’ll find songs about fantastic space beasts, such as “Spacemoth” by Stereolab and “Space Monkey” by Patti Smith. There’s homages to space heroes such as “Flash” (Gordon) by Queen and “Rocket Man” by Elton John. Oh, of course there’s several homages to robots by the likes of Daft Punk, TMBG, Jonathan Coulton, and more.
So set your phasers to stun, and prepare to beam down to the planet’s surface. Who knows what strange and wonderful waveforms you’ll find on Space and Robots!
Spaceships and Robots and more!
What’s that? You want more songs about space, robots, aliens and the like? Well – get ready to take your protein pills, as I have a couple relevant playlists scheduled for the summer. Speaking of summer – it’s officially road trip time! That means you need some music for those endless car rides to Wally World. Audiperfecta has you covered with a newly refreshed version of “Are We There Yet.” Go check it out.
Speaking of featured articles, this Friday I will discuss ten hated songs, and if they deserve the hate they get. This was a challenging article to write, but a rewarding experience. I hope you enjoy the article when it publishes.
Finally, if you’ve made it this far, you obviously like playlists. Guess what? There’s a Facebook group for that. I’ve started a group called “I Love Playlists.” My hope is that others will share their playlists in this group. So check it out and contribute!
I leave you with this – all the openings to every Star Trek ever. Live long and prosper and may the force be with you. So say we all!
