This week’s playlist will make you dance. Why should you dance? I mean, that’s a valid question. Especially considering all that’s happened this last week. Well, if you’re like me, sometimes you need to forget about current events. That’s not to say you should be ignorant of what’s happening. No, it’s extremely important, but to focus on social unrest, racism, and COViD-19 24/7 is not good for your mental health. Sometimes you need distractions. Sometimes you need to turn off the news, Pump up the volume, and dance!
Pump up the volume features dance hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s. Classic artists such as Abba, Depeche Mode, The B-52s, Stereolab, Erasure, and Daft Punk will move your feet. One-hit wonders, such as Your Woman by White Town, What is Love by Haddaway, and of course, Pump Up the Volume by M/A/R/R/S will grove your soul. A deep cut by the Pet Shop Boys finds its way on the playlist. A few blasts from the past, such as Nene Cherry’s “Trout” will grace your ears. Even indie rock bands, such as the Go! Team and Sleigh Bells will help you shake your booty.
Take a mental health break, and pump up the volume!
Pump up the volume…later this week
This week’s featured article was originally meant to pair with last week’s playlist, but well, last week was not the time for writing. This week, however, I promise to bring you an article dedicated to extremely loud music. Yes, this week, I will once again talk about rock and roll. Specifically, I ask, who is the queen of rock and roll? It’s an answer that everyone has an opinion on, but no definitive answer exists. So, I will try to answer the question myself.
Come back Saturday, and see if you agree with my conclusion. I will give you one hint – the current queen has to be a living person. Until then, stay safe, and keep blasting the music!
