Folk Music of the 60s and 70s

Sometimes you need the mellow, sweet, yet turbulent music of yesteryear. In the 60s and 70s, folk music was huge. Folk singers sang about freedom, justice, love, and life itself. The folk music of the 60s and 70s sang about the Vietnam war, the civil rights movement, equality, and change. At the same time, they sometimes just sang about a particular time and place, and even just sang to sing. It was a time for the folk music genre. No wonder the Mocumentary A Mighty Wind pays such a loving tribute.

So, who’s on this week’s playlist? Oh, pretty much everyone. Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills & Nash, Joan Baez, Laura Nyro, The Seekers, the Association, and so many more. Joni Mitchell sings about a Big Yellow Taxi, while Stone Poneys sing about the beat of a different drum. Pete Seeger sings that We Shall Overcome, while The Band sings about The Weight. The Lovin’ Spoonful daydreams while Brewer and Shipley take one toke over the line. Folk Music of the 60s and 70s will please you, me, and Bobby McGee.

I hope you enjoy this week’s playlist. Stick around and read past the links to see what’s publishing tomorrow!

Folk Music of the 60s and 70s

Maybe folk music of the 60s and 70s isn’t your thing

Maybe you’re into something with a lot of guitars, keyboards, and maybe even a little 80s style saxophone. I’ve got you covered! Come back tomorrow, and you’ll see a brand new cover vs original featuring the song I Still Believe (Great Design). First recorded in 1986 by the Call, and then recorded a year later by Tim Capello, I Still Believe is a song about endurance, face, and hope.

What else would you like to see me write about? I’m thinking about exploring The B-52’s last, and most underrated album in a couple of weeks. But it’s still up in the air. For all I know I could write about the Wrigley’s Gum Jingle (kidding). Maybe you have an idea! I want to hear about it, and who knows! In two weeks’ time, you might be reading an article based on your suggestion! So let me know in. the comments below!

Until later my friends. As always, Rock on, and rocksteady. And as Folk icon Neil Young once said, keep on rocking in the free world!
