Rock Songs You Should Know

Happy 2022! The New Year, in the cosmic sense, means absolutely nothing. However, we humans can’t resist seeing numbers turn. Especially when said numbers only turn once a year. So, we like to set new goals and straighten our priorities. Is music your priority? Well, that’s where today’s playlist comes in. Today’s playlist, Rock Songs You Should Know, starts out a brand new playlist series. The series will take a different genre and introduce you to songs from that genre you might not be familiar with, but you should be. especially if you’re fond of said genre.

This edition of SYSK (does the abbreviation work?) features rock. We start out with a live version of “Gloria” by U2. Queen sings about Mustapha, while Elvis Costello sings about “…This Town…” The Kinks sing about Victoria, while The Beatles think it’s All Too Much. Joan Jett sings in Any Weather, while Belly tells you to Feed the Trees. Lush, The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix, Garbage, Iggy Pop, The Animals, Joe Jackson, The Who, The Replacements, and more. You’ll certainly find some old favorites, but you’ll also find some songs you probably don’t know. Regardless, this week’s playlist is a rocking good time.

I hope you enjoy Rock Songs You Should Know.

What does 2022 mean for me? Well, a few things. 2021 was all about survival for me. I’m hoping 2022 is about rebuilding and possibly resting. So what that means, I might not make some deadlines. I’ll try to get playlists out every week, but I also need to do some self-care. If a playlist gets too much, I’m just not going to do it. I probably should not have done this playlist, but sometimes you just got to push yourself. Besides, it just kind of came together, so…

Anyways, that’s it for today. As always, Rock on and Rock Steady.
