Behold! I have completed another orbit around the sun! Another year of living, loving, surviving, and hopefully thriving. And what makes me thrive, you ask? Well…lots of things. But this is a music website, dammit, and does indeed make me thrive like almost nothing else. So in honor of the end of my 51st year, I have put together a playlist of 51 songs that have helped me thrive. You can find this playlist below via Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube music. Want to know how I chose each song? Scroll past the playlists, and you’ll see my explanation.
How did I put together 51 Songs, 51 Years?
I have a few rules about which songs I’ve chosen. Firstly, every song is from a different year that I’ve lived in. I have songs from the year 1974-2024. I did not include 2025 because that would have been 52 years, and besides, we’re not done with 2025 yet. Be patient, we have a couple of weeks. But I digress
Another rule – each song has to be relatively popular. How I rated popularity was from a few different publications, including Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR Music, and Acclaimed Music. I tried to choose the most popular song of any given year that had a significance to me. Granted, the song in question didn’t need to have any significance to me the year it came out (I don’t think I was listening to the Sex Pistols on my third birthday). The song just has to have some significance at some part of my life. Maybe it’s a memory, maybe the song was in a movie, maybe it’s just a song I really love.
The last and final rule: no repeated artists. I could have listed Florence and The Machine, George Michael/Wham, Blondie, U2, Adele, and a few other artists multiple times, but I like to diversify my artists in my playlists. That’s just the way I roll.
Wait, wait, AudioPerfecta.com looks different!
One final note. If you’re a regular visitor to this website, you might notice that this website has a new look. I had to ditch the old theme pretty quickly, and no decisions have been made as far as the new theme. For now, I have a temporary theme that I’m fooling around with. Let me know in the comments if you like it, hate it, or have a (free) theme I should check out.
As always, dear friends. Rock on, and Rock Steady!
