Coming back to the Surface – One Hit Wonders Part Two

Coming Back to the Surface - One Hit wonders part two.Yesterday I posted a playlist exploring second and third tier songs from supposedly one hit wonders. Today, as promised, I’m posting the songs said one hit wonders are known for. Yes, we dove deep yesterday, but today we’re coming up for air. Today, we’re exploring the surface. Awesome-Sauce!

One hit wonders hold a special place in the hearts and minds of people, but did you know there’s a reason? Music affects dopamine levels – sure, as does nostalgia. Oh, but there’s more. A rarely heard song affects dopamine levels even more. One hit wonders appear less frequently asย  other songs on the radio, playlists, et cetera. So yeah – there’s a one two three punch with one hit wonders. Check out this article for more details.

As I said yesterday, some of these bands, despite their status as one hit wonders are really amongst my favorites. Devo, The Divynls, The Church, The Proclaimers. Maybe one or two of these songs see too much airplay (Gotye, Chumbawamba). I ask your forgiveness on these, as really this playlist is more of a companion playlist to yesterday’s. However, both songs are well written – despite their over-saturation. Whatever. On with the music!

Did you enjoy that trip down memory lane? Did you think yesterday’s playlist was better? Let me know and maybe we’ll do a part two on this series. Or – Part three? This is already called part two. Whatever. I can pretty much guarantee there will be another installment in this series. I really enjoyed putting these two playlists together. Besides, there’s plenty of other one hit wonders, most of which have some pretty decent deep cuts. Like I said yesterday – deep cuts are a major pillar in AudioPerfecta’s overall strategy. By the way – whatever you do, do not, repeat, do not look up the video for track two of this playlist. It’s enough to give you nightmares.
