Unrequited Love Songs

Sometimes I like to explore a theme that has absolutely nothing to do with my current life. I just hit a stack of songs that have this theme and I’m like, ok, why not? That’s exactly what happened this week. Severa; songs on my new(ish) release alerts had to do with unrequited love. Some of these songs were break-up songs, some of these songs are songs of pursuit. Some of these songs are lamenting past relations, Whatever, the theme here is that there’s one person interested in a relationship, and one person who is not. Wow, I really do not miss those days, but I digress. Unrequited love songs: not just for the broken-hearted.

Unrequited love songs feature a variety of artists. Erasure sings about Secrets, while The Fixx sings about Secret Separations. Martin Briley sings about Salt in My (or his) Tears, while Squeeze sings about black coffee in bed. Both U2 and Elvis Presley sing about the Heartbreak Hotel, while Elvis Costello laments about his beloved turning to him (to break up). Other artists include The Smithereens, The Monkees, Garbage, X, The Farm, The Beatles, Breathe, Sleater-Kinney, and even “Weird Al” Yankovic.

I hope none of you are the subject of any unrequited love songs, but if you are, maybe this list will help.

More Unrequited Love Songs? Or maybe less?

My kitty is bored and wanting attention. He’s probably wondering why I didn’t make another playlist inspired by his furry fluffiness. Ooo, his ears perked up when I typed that. No fooling! And now he’s sitting on my keyboaerw’lqkg’n l3kql5′. Oy, the joys of pets. Anyways, to go along with my playlist from last week, I thought I might do one about dogs. I do not own a dog, and I probably never will again. But I do like other people’s dogs. The timing is right, I just saw the movie Cruella! Great film, by the way, I highly recommend it!

My point in writing all this, I don’t know what next week’s playlist will be! But maybe you do. If you have an idea for a playlist, I want to know. Maybe I can make the playlist of your dreams. Just let me know in the comments below.

Until next week, rock on and rocksteady!
