Change is part of life, as is sorrow. Lately, these two things have defined my life. As frequent readers of AudioPerfect know, both sorrow and change have been frequent themes in my life. That’s why I chose this week’s theme. This week’s playlist, Songs of Sorrow and Change, pays homage to songs that talk about these subjects.
This week’s themed playlist includes 30 artists, presenting over 2 hours of music. You’ll hear many classic songs on Songs of Sorrow and Change. The Beatles tell us to Let It Be, Queen and David Bowie talk about life Under Pressure, and R.E.M. reminds us that Everybody Hurts. You’ll be Livin’ on a Prayer with Bon Jovi, and you’ll want to be Forever Young with Alphaville. Elton John, Neko Case, Billy Joel, Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Flaming Lips, Joe Cocker, The Beach Boys, Iron & Wine, Regina Spektor, CCR, and more will take you through a gambit of emotions. Finally, you’ll Return to Innocence with Enigma.
Take care of yourselves people, as you embark on your own journeys of sorrow and change. If I’ve learned anything over the last four years, music will help with your quest through the dark times.

More songs of sorrow and change
As I mentioned last week, I’m postponing the Beatles’ best-of list for a time in the future. Instead, I’ll be working on an article comparing a few “list songs” where time progresses. Think songs like American Pie and We Didn’t Start the Fire. Songs that, well, list a bunch of events. To tie this into this week’s playlist, most of these list songs show some sorrow, and all of these show change. I have four songs in mind to compare, but I might add more. If you’ve got an idea for one, let me know in the comments.
With that said, I might take a little time getting that article out. I’m currently working on another article for my personal website/blog, and I feel that’s the only major project I can focus on for a few weeks. But, I have been writing again! It felt so good to pound out 1400 words in one sitting, and I’m excited to edit and publish again.
Till next week, rock on, and rock steady!
