Folks, this playlist is a little late. This last week, my father suddenly passed away. Needless to say, AudioPerfects.com has not really been a priority. Still, I wanted to get something out regardless. During this time, there’s been a few songs that have orbited my brain – mostly having to do with fathers, sons, and what we do without our parents. So, that’s the theme of this week’s playlist. Songs for Fathers and Sons. Most of my playlists are about 30 songs and/or two hours long, however this playlist will be a little shorter. There are several reasons why, but ultimately, these are the songs I want to include.
So, what did I include? There are songs about relationships between Fathers and Sons, such as Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin and Father to Son by Queen. I include songs such as Surrender by Cheap Trick, even though that’s about both mothers and fathers. I include the song Winter by Tori Amos, even though the song is more about the relationship between a father and his daughter – but the feels I have while listening to this song right now. There are also songs about what we, the next generation, must do when our parents are gone. Sons and Daughters by The Decemberists and Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) by The Arcade Fire. I’ve even included the humorous “Boy Named Sue” by Johnny Cash. Oh, and don’t worry, my dad was nothing like the father in Pappa Was A Rolling Stone. But I do love that song.
RIP Dad. I miss you.

Songs for Fathers and Sons is not a tribute
When my mother died, the tribute to her was a list of songs that reminded me of her. I thought about doing something similia with my dad. Instead, I’ll be exploring one of his favorite musical genres, rockabilly. I had the idea when I found a “best of rockabilly” album on his record player. He was quite the dance enthusiast, so why not? That will publish, well, I don’t know when. I do want to take my time, so it might be a couple of weeks. But look forward to it! It’s going to be fun.
Until next time, Rock on and Rocksteady. You never know when your last rock and roll session will be.
