Autumn Sweater – A Fall Playlist.

Fall is here! Gone are the long, hot days of summer. Now comes the best time of the year! Green leaves turn red, yellow, orange, and brown. Soups are back on the menu. I’m putting away my shorts for the season. Sure, the satellite TV goes out a lot because of rain and wind. No matter. We don’t need TV because I’ve put together a Fall playlist.  In this Fall Playlist, I’ve included songs that talk about the rain and the changing weather. I’ve also included songs that talk the leaves – how they seem to set the streets on fire. The leaves – how they change colors and give…

    Instrumentals for Everyone.

I put so much emphasis on lyrics, that today I want to focus on instrumentals. Sometimes we need to forget about words – and just let our brains absorb the music – let the meaning of the music really hit our soul. Feel the rhythm, the guitars, dulcimers, drums, bass, keyboards, and whatever other instrument might find its way into any given instrumental. Don’t worry – despite this article’s image, there will be no alpine horns. Though if I had found a decent example – I might have included a song with said horns. What do I mean by instrumentals? 70s and 80s Soft Rock Supercoma…

Ahhh, Soft Rock…so mellow, so relaxing. Forget about that hard stuff – it makes my ears bleed. I want to go out on my yacht, drink mimosas and enjoy the sun. Metallica or Alice In Chains? No thanks – that’s too dark. I need something positive…something light….something that won’t challenge my world view too much. I need a soft rock supercoma Ok, so that’s a bit harsh. I love soft rock – but to say it doesn’t challenge my world view? Wrong. I will say it brings me a peace that no other music can – especially soft rock from the 70s and 80s. I don’t know what it is…

Speaking of Bad Music – True Love Waits…

Yesterday, I gave you all permission to listen to bad music. Some might call this a clever way to justify my love for Kelly Clarkson’s music. Other’s might say this was not clever at all! – just an excuse….but I digress. As many of you know, I grew up listening to a lot of Christian music – a genre chock full of bad music, that we have actual categories of bad music based on themes in Christian music. One category in particular, the “true love waits” category feels ripe for a bad music playlist. Wait – true love waits? Isn’t that a Radiohead song? Well, yes, but before Thom Yorke…

    The Chill Pill Playlist…

When I was a teen, “take a chill pill” was a common lexicon. Circa 1992, if someone said this to you, a) they were probably annoyed and/or aggravated with you, and b) you probably needed to mellow out. As an adult, I recognize more than ever that sometimes we need to take a chill pill. Sometimes we need to just check ourselves before we wreck ourselves.. We need to relax, close our eyes, and listen to some mellow music. I can’t help you with the relax and close your eyes part – that’s on you. I can, however, help you with the mellow music! This playlist – if you haven’t…
