Ultimate Yacht Rock

It’s summer. This means it’s time to go down to the marina, and board your home on seas. Maybe you have a forty-footer, maybe you have a sixty-footer. Maybe you’re one of the lucky few that has a 200 footer. Whatever, it’s time to sail away. What’s that you say? You don’t have a yacht? Pshaw, you must be one of those poor folks I keep hearing about. Ok, ok, I’ve got you covered. I can’t give you a yacht, but I can give you a playlist of music you’d hear on a yacht. Maybe you can play it while cruising around in your 1985 Ford Pinto on your way to Walgreen’s to get athlete’s foot powder. Or whatever it is you do in those things. Whatever, Ultimate Yacht Rock will make you feel like you’re out on the open seas no matter what you’re doing.

Ok, now that I’ve totally insulted everyone on my mailing list with my faux snobbery, let’s talk this week’s playlist seriously. Ulitmate Yacht Rock features 3 and a half hours of smooth, soft rock. You’ll go sailing with Christopher Cross, you’ll Steal away with Robbie DuPree. Meanwhile, England Dan & Ford Coley would Really Love to See You Tonight. Bread, Chicago, Hall & Oates, Air Supply, REO Speedwagon, and so many more. Oh, and of course, it would not be Yacht Rock without the two captains of the genre. Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald make several appearances on this week’s playlist. Oh, and for the record, I too am one of the poor people without a yacht. Which reminds me, I need to go pick up a prescription from Walgreens – best get in the minivan and get to it.

Enjoy Ultimate Yacht Rock, no matter what transportation options you may have.

Ultimate Yacht Rock

Ultimate Yacht Rock copies another playlist!

Why yes, I have done a Yacht Rock playlist before. And yes, many of the songs featured here, are songs featured in that playlist. Thank you for noticing! But there is one thing that makes this playlist different than other playlists. Ultimate Yacht Rock features so much more music! This is an ultimate playlist after all, which means it’s going to be longer and more exhaustive. I break some rules with ultimate playlists, like including more than one track from any given artist. So, there’s that as well. My point in saying this, I might do more ultimate playlists. Why not?

That’s all I got today. Yes, I’m still planning on doing that Beatles article, but again, it’ll take some time. I’m also thinking about doing a cover vs original, Broadway edition featuring the song “One Day More” from Les Miserables. We’ll see.

As always, rock on and rock steady.
